Beautiful People

"Beautiful People" is one of four new songs on Tim McGraw's latest release, Reflected: Greatest Hits II. The album also features 10 of his biggest hits, including "Live Like You Were Dying," "She's My Kind of Rain" and "Real Good Man." Rounding out the tracks are two duets that appeared on other artists albums, "Over and Over," which he recorded last year with rap star Nelly, and "Like We Never Loved At All," his duet with wife Faith Hill.

In addition to his successful music career, Tim has ventured into acting. He appeared in the 2004 film "Friday Night Lights," and, in July, he'll be seen on the big screen again in the new adaptation of the family classic, "My Friend Flicka." One of the songs from the film's soundtrack was included on Tim's new greatest hits album. Tim co-wrote the track, called "My Little Girl."

Tim says he's reading more movie scripts and is open to the idea of making a film with his wife. Faith Hill made her big screen debut in 2004 in a remake of The Stepford Wives. But, he adds, "We're not going to do it just for the sake of doing it. It has to be something that would be special."

In the meantime, Tim will spend the next four months performing concerts with Faith throughout the U.S. The couple's first "Soul II Soul" tour in 2000 drew close to one million fans. With many dates already sold out, ticket sales are expected to reach a similar number for the 70 shows on their "Soul II Soul 2" tour. The outing is scheduled to run through late-August.

Tim's new greatest hits album debuted at Number One on Billboard's Country chart to become his 9th consecutive chart-topping entry. Its first single took only three weeks to reach the Top 20 on the Country Singles chart.

'One World One Dream'

"One World One Dream" fully reflects the essence and the universal values of the Olympic spirit -- Unity, Friendship, Progress, Harmony, Participation and Dream. It expresses the common wishes of people all over the world, inspired by the Olympic ideals, to strive for a bright future of Mankind. In spite of the differences in colors, languages and races, we share the charm and joy of the Olympic Games, and together we seek for the ideal of Mankind for peace. We belong to the same world and we share the same aspirations and dreams.

"One World One Dream" is a profound manifestation of the core concepts of the Beijing Olympic Games. It reflects the values of harmony connoted in the concept of "People's Olympics", the core and soul of the three concepts -- "Green Olympics, High-tech Olympics and People's Olympics". While "Harmony of Man with Nature" and "Peace Enjoys Priority" are the philosophies and ideals of the Chinese people since ancient times in their pursuit of the harmony between Man and Nature and the harmony among people, building up a harmonious society and achieving harmonious development are the dream and aspirations of ours. It is our belief that peace and progress, harmonious development, living in amity, cooperation and mutual benefit, and enjoying a happy life are the common ideals of the people throughout the world.

"One World, One Dream" is simple in expressions, but profound in meaning. It is of China, and also of the world. It conveys the lofty ideal of the people in Beijing as well as in China to share the global community and civilization and to create a bright future hand in hand with the people from the rest of the world. It expresses the firm belief of a great nation, with a long history of 5,000 years and on its way towards modernization, that is committed to peaceful development, harmonious society and people's happiness. It voices the aspirations of 1.3 billion Chinese people to contribute to the establishment of a peaceful and bright world.

The English translation of the slogan is distinctive in sentence structure. The two "One"s are perfectly used in parallel, and the words "World" and "Dream" form a good match. The slogan is simple, meaningful, inspiring, and easy to remember, read and spread.

In Chinese, the word "tongyi", which means "the same", is used for the English word "One". It highlights the theme of "the whole Mankind lives in the same world and seeks for the same dream and ideal".

The Great Wall

The Great Wall of China by Franz Kafka (1883-1924) is an imaginative description of this ancient project that raises the points,"With this method of construction (section by section) many large gaps arose;″"there are said to be gaps which have never been filled in at all.″It then asks, "The wall was conceived as a protection against the people of the north, as was commonly announced and universally known. But how can protection be provide by a wall which is not built continuously?″
As vice-president Dong Yanhui of the China Great Wall Society remarks, "Military defense is generally considered to have been the aim of the Great Wall. But it performed a peaceful rather than warlike function.″Dong acted as guide to former US president Bill Clinton and current US president George W. Bush presidents were keen to know why so much manpower, material and funds had been expended on this massive, yet apparently incomplete, defense project throughout the centuries. Dong explains,"The Great Wall was a means of reconciling China’s nomadic and farming economies. Clashes between the Han and nomadic communities occurred throughout Chinese history. Nomadic ethnic groups north of the Great Wall, such as the Qin and Han Dynasty Huns and Ming Dynasty Mongols, sought pastures for their horses, cattle and sheep. They coveted land in the Central Plains areas that had been settled by Han farmers. Nomad sheep and cattle ruined painstakingly cultivated Han crops, and farmers retaliated by slaughtering nomad livestock.″

In case of returning with empty hands again.” Socrates said: “that is marriage”
